Throughout this entire kayak re-entry process, you match the centers of gravity of your body and your kayak. I learned this method in the surf zone. With some practice, you can re-enter your kayak in any conditions within seconds.

For detailed info on the technique go to http://kayak-skills.kayaklakemead.com/wet-entry.html.

  • Yes, you are quite right. Leg length and or body type will determine techniques. All safety is based upon preparation, common sense, and the proper technique for the situation.

  • Well done. Where is the life vest, boyancy aid, or personal floatation device? I paddle in colder clines, a floatation device is critical.

  • @fionastirling :

My vest is in front of my feet. I wear when it in cold water. On this lake in the Summer, the air might be 110 deg. F and the water up to 83 deg. F.

  • he first puts his legs out...that's not a real test

  • The video's purpose is to show an efficient RE-ENTRY - which it does.

  • @kayaklakemead The water here in Eastern Canada is about 5 C so it is colder. The PFD or BA will save you from swimming failure (drowning) if your boat gets blown away. I am only visiting here but the last time I took an involuntary swim it was here due entirely to very cold water. Wind can separate you from your boat and BA or PFD. if something else decides when you swim.

  • Look at how your yak pops back up after you roll it. Would be easy to do if mine would do that.

  • I want to learn how to do that... wow very impressive.

  • Very Well Done

  • ok, in that case i hold my case. it seems simple but i know it isn't. the small hole keeps giving me a locked feeling
