  • Fox News is journalism? Did they tell you that? Wow.

  • First you acknowledge that there is a pre-existing freedom to take one's life. You admit that anything contrary is a constraint on one's freedom; because if there is a pre-existing condition of freedom, then the only thing that can intervene on such a state is artificial compulsion. I-1000 only makes that compulsion obvious, and restores a person's pre-existing freedom. How is that pushing one's views? Subsequently, how do you oppose it without pushing your own views? Interesting.

  • In other words, suicide is acceptable as long as it's slow, painful or violent.

  • And it is "pushing one's views" because legislation like this (as evidenced in Belgium and the Netherlands) has gotten to the point where doctors could very well be given the authority to take my life against my wishes. It isn't simple giving the individual wishing to commit suicide the right to do so. To believe this alone is naive.

  • Those who commit suicide, obviously can't (won't)face further judgement (at least on earth). Your rebuttal is wholly without logic or foundation. I oppose it in the same way I would've opposed slavery if I had lived in a time when it was legal and in the same way I oppose abortion now, though is has become legal. I oppose these positions based on morality.

  • Not a "pre-existing freedom" in the way you imply - which is really "sanctioned freedom." And I did not "admit that anything contrary is a constraint on one's freedom." Which is why I used quotation marks. People can suicide, just as they can commit murder, rob a bank, etc. People are always "free" to do whatever they want - - but this isn't to say there aren't consequences. If you murder, rob, etc, you'll likely go to jail.

  • Uh...three things:

    1) Speak English.

    2) The negative remarks only vindicate my view.

    3) I-1000 already passed you MORON! Wow. Nevertheless, I'm glad you didn't vote.

  • if you want to die buy a gun and shoot yourself but dont make it legal for doctor to kill you idiot!

  • I find it interesting that some of the common sense information is not being talked about. For instance, Fox News ran an article and series with the title: "Oregon Offers Terminal Patients Doctor-Assisted Suicide Instead of Medical Care", on Monday, July 28, 2008. It can be found by googling that title.

  • Contrar; everything stated in this video and the claims made by other opponents to this initiative & quite frankly all pro-euthanasia legislation is absolutely true. If anything, they are not forthcoming enough with the consequences and reality of such a dangerous bill. If you choose, you already have the "freedom" to take your life by any number of means. In legalizing euthanasia, it is YOU who are pushing your AMORAL issues on me and those of us who value life. Oregon's abuses of law are many.
