STIG is St Ignatius (again), not the guy who drives the fast cars. 'New Mornings' is the name of the project that's been keeping us all busy in the city of Salford in the early months of 2010, started by the University.
Well, 'New Mornings' project gave us some money to run Creative Writing on Tuesday afternoons at the Ordsall Community Cafe, and one of the results of that was that Jane Wood sat down and wrote a song about the local church that's being allowed to run to rack and ruin. She wants to save it, (and so do lots of others, check out the petition of local names, oh, and the letter from the Prince's Trust, yes, Prince Charles, that is).
Shame on those so-called holy people who are quite happy to see the house of God collapse, and those so-called cultured people who don't recognise an architectural masterpiece by Alfred Darbyshire. Well, those of us who appreciate the great man, we meet in a pub he designed called 'The Marble Arch' on Rochdale Road. It's good beer and a stunning setting for the campaign.
