12-year old Shannon Miller on balance beam during the All-Around at the 1989 U.S. Olympic Festival in Oklahoma City. This meet served as the Junior National Championships. Enjoy!

  • Shannon looks so happy! She was just too hard on herself from 1993 to 1996. At this meet, do you think Shannon ever dreamed who she would become? The most decorated American gymnast? Winner of seven Olympic medals and how many World, National medals?

  • I really don't think anyone had better natural form on beam and probably every other event, except maybe nadia. you just can't teach that. every move is beautiful.

  • She's amazing!

  • Shannon looks sooo precious in this video....you could see the talent at such a young age....

  • opps i thought you said NASTIA! not NADIA! my mistake!!! nadia has always had natrual grace! sorry!

  • @lostlyrarose well nastia didn't really have natrual form i dont think, she has grace, but not NATRUAL grace as shannon does. She needed major training, and you can tell with her prissy hand movements that she is fighting to have grace, and it doesnt seem natrual to her.

  • I absolutely agree with you, and that's the way how I think when I am watching the routines of famous gymnasts when they were young. At such a young age, carefree and innocent, will they be able to imagine that they will be the world's greatest?
