http://www.wellsve.com/ This video will locate and test the cam and crank sensor on a 2004 Nissan. It will also demonstrate an alternative method to relearn the idle air control. When a P0507 or a high idle occurs after a throttle body clean, the TSB requires the use of the factory (Consultant II) scan tool to reset idle air control. The reset can also be performed by following the steps in this video, without a scan tool.

  • my car is 2006 nissan quest 95miles so some problem code p0507 l cant follow this videos please talk restoring a more detailed basis of understanding how?

  • @savassarac By far the most common cause for this P0507 code on your vehicle is this re-learn procedure. It will work on your vehicle! You have to do it just like it states in the video. Be patient, it took me several tries to get it right the first time. Your only alternative is to take it to a garage who has the OE scan tool.

    Best of luck,

  • @tbelloto Sorry I just looked up the time to replace the timing chain, 10.6 hrs. $1700 sounds like a lot, I would check around. But before anyone digs into it I would want to be absolutely sure it is the cause of the problem.

  • @markjhicks Yeah - that's what the dealer thinks. But they want $1700 to replace it. That's a down payment on a new car.

  • @tbelloto Have you checked or replaced the timing belt? It sounds like it is starting a too rich. The timing belt could be a cause.

  • @markjhicks Sorry for the long delay. I have done most of these and get good readings. I also changed my spark plugs. And when doing these tests, cleaned the throttle body. It actually is a bit easier to start in the cold now. If I floor the gas when I start it, it's guaranteed to turn over and not stall. If it stalls, it acts like it has flooded and I have to wait 10 - 15 minutes before I can start it again.

  • @markjhicks Thanks. I'll update you after I try that.

  • @markjhicks 4. Check the CMP sensor pin terminal connections for being clean and tight.

    5. Check the CMP sensor signal on the White wire at terminal 62 of the Engine Control Module (ECM) as necessary.

Check the connection very carefully, there are a fair amount of problems associated with it.

  • @markjhicks 3. Back probe the White wire at the CMP sensor and turn the key ON and see if there is about 10.0 volts on the White wire from the sensor. If so, crank the engine and check for a 0-10 volt square wave cranking and running with grouping of signals - 1, 3, 4 and 2. Compare the voltages and the square wave signals when the engine starts and runs fine to when the engine will not start.

  • @tbelloto

    1. Check for battery voltage to CMP sensor on the Red/Green wire and see if the voltage is still good when the problem occurs.

    2. Check the ground for the CMP sensor on the Black wire - look for 0.05 volts or less when the problem occurs to be ok.

  • @markjhicks 4 cylinder.

  • @tbelloto 4 or 6 cylinder?

  • 2004 Altima. The SES on for 2 years now. The car would lose idle, but not stall. The first dealer repair was the solonoid. Two weeks later , it came back on. P0340 - Camshaft Position Sensor. Finally had it (and crank) replaced cause the car had started to start rough. SES came right back. Dealer told me it was my timing belt. I found I had a bad engine ground and replaced that. But I'm getting a rougher start (idles fine once it starts) and the P0340 error is back. Any thoughts?

  • @amfsu1 Excellent! Happy it worked for you! Thanks for the update!

  • @markjhicks finally i got it to work, i took your advice and got it right on my second or third try, right away after i started the engine waited a few seconds and my rpm's dropped from 1900rpm's to about 500- 600rpm's. thank you so so much Mr. Mark Hicks nice to know there's people like you on youtube who give helpful advice and make our lives a lot easier for nothing in return.

    THANK YOU!

  • @PR4470 This procedure should work on your vehicle. I don't know if it take care of any prior issues. Remember, this procedure is only meant to reset the idle to the proper speed if there are no other codes in the system. However, trying the procedure is not going to do any damage to the vehicle either.

If you have any further concerns, let me know.

  • i have the same problem on my 2006 sentra ser spec v after cleaning the throttle body....will this procedure it also work if i had the SES light on prior to throttlebody malfunction?

  • @rhivert Honestly, it took me a few tries the first time to get it right too. It is kind of like a Dick Tracey decoder ring. You get one little thing wrong and the decoding is useless :). Thanks for the response!

  • Repeated this procedure 3 times on my 2005 Nissan Altima 3.5SE and the SES (Service Engine Soon) Light went off! As indicated in this video the RPM on idle dropped signifantly. Amazing! Thanks for sharing!
