A short narration that try to depict some memories revolving around a historical building in Florina, Greece. This Building was build some time on the second half of the 19nth century, using the traditional Balkan architecture and it was the first two-floor christian house in the city (which was Ottoman at the time). Now it lay in ruins...
I consider this project a half failure. On the right you see what I was intending to narrate and on the left a 3d projection on a rotating maquette, using 2 projectors on a 60 degree angle, that project the animation based on their point of view.
The idea was to try to create a moving hologram.
I had two crappy low resolution projectors an an even crappier camcorder at my disposal, so the result of the recording is terrible.
This is a two semester project for my university, it took me 3 full months to complete and I used 3ds Max, Mudbox, After Effects, Photoshop and TVpaint in order to make it. The projection was made with VPT6, using a korg nanoKONTROL2 in order to synchronize the rotation speed which wasn't stable. I used a Tamiya Display Turntable for the rotation.
I hope that you like it, even at it's current state.
3d modeling, animation and music by me.
I want to thank the architect Michael Papagiannakis for kindly providing me his thorough research material on the building and his valuable advise.
