Many fundimental Christians claim the Bible is God's perfect word, and many claim the account of creation should be taken literally, and therefore reject the theories of evolution and the big bang.
But what Francis claims is that the creation story is more of a metaphor for God's work. And so he can accept evolutionary theory and the big bang.
Does anyone see the disconnect here? It doesn't seem like you can have it both ways?!
@mahendersari I honestly do hope the last three things were either jokes or sarcasm... and I'm a Christian and believe in Microevolution. But Macroevolution is a teensy bit impossible. Take the oceans for example. The oceans would have salt like the Dead Sea if the Earth were long enough for macroevolution to occur. I would love to accept the theory of Macroevolution if it actually made logical sense.
1). When you put on colored glasses the entire world looks colored. In order to know the true color, you have to remove those glasses. (Judge the world as a neutral person not with bible and Jesus)
2). You are getting confused with God and God's son.
3). You are blind to the facts.
i). Creation is only 5000 yrs old.
ii). Earth is flat.
iii). Denying evolution theory. etc.. shows how blind bible is.
As long as Christians are willing to discard all parts of their myth that contradicts science they can coexist. The question is why anyone would bother, as the view of the bible that emerges through that process is not exactly as a beacon of reliability and trustworthiness..
Here's what makes no sense to me:

But what Francis claims is that the creation story is more of a metaphor for God's work. And so he can accept evolutionary theory and the big bang.
Does anyone see the disconnect here? It doesn't seem like you can have it both ways?!
And so I am very confused.
