This was a genuine technical issue with the sound and it's happened several times in the past with eastenders. Don't ask me the back story, but I recall seeing this on the TV. It obviously happened (live at the time) at the BBC studio where they have actually had similar blunders before.
Don't jump to conclusions. This isn't an edit, And that's also what makes this so interesting.
