Square Enix recently unveiled new information at E3 about the upcoming MMORPG, once known as "Project Rapture", now officially titled "Final Fantasy XIV Online". Yes, that's right, despite widespread speculation that the developers at SE were going to take Rapture in a completely different direction, it looks like we have a sequel on our hands. The new MMORPG has been announced thusfar for the PS3 and Windows platforms. An official release date is still to be determined, however, 2010 is the projected year of release.

are they going to start making ppl pay money to play games online for ps3 now??? im heaqring this for a few games coming out... if so, this is where i take my leave in the gaming world. bad enought to buy over priced games but now having to pay to play???!! sorry im not going to be scammed by these gaming whores. if anyone knows anything about this, feel free to comment so i can understand this better. peace

When will the day come...
when MMORPG's aren't a grindfest
when there is a deep storyline that grabs you into the game, that has twists, and connections between the world, player, and AI
when there is no simple "point and click" combat
where there is a community that's social, helpful, and fun
when the graphics don't look like a five year old drew them
that will be the day i play an MMORPG, maybe it'll be FF XIV? who knows

To be honest, I consider FFXI the best MMORPG I have ever played.
It was fun, complex, and awesomely community driven. Everyone was so nice, worked together, and held massive social events.
The scenery was stunning, the music was epic, the storyline was deep, and you could switch to any job you wanted so you could keep your character.
WoW never had me as involved in the community as FFXI did.

I couldnt get into WoW as much as FFXI. Then I met ppl who came from WoW and they were telling me how terribly competitive it was. I kinda believed them.... but WoW was just kinda boring to me. Didnt even experience competition...thank god.
