Here's a nice pattern that you can learn that's different than Son, Mambo, or other types of basic patterns that most beginners learn. This rhythm is called Timba.

  • @VicV1122 - there are many down beat patterns that you can play. I play in a church band too and I too don't always try to play latin in Gospel.

    Do you have a particular reason for playing the first tone in Timba with your left hand. It seems awkward. Is it to facilitate improvisation and ghosting?
