but truthfully they are all clearly fake wanna be's and it doesn't take a genious to figure that out. maybe they did get on a few tracks with american emcees but that doesnt stop them from being fakes. but hey it might be cool over there to try to be american but over here we keep it real.

its not all about culture though, if you listen to the lyrics of NZ hip hop they are always shouting out to NZ in one way or another. Aussie hip hop is only really respected in Australia. Nobody else listens to it. Scribe has broken through to the Aussie market, Savage has recorded heaps of singles with Akon and other American rappers as well as getting on the soundtracks of 2 movies. P money has also done the same as Savage. Part of the essence of making it sound good is to keep its roots.

americans dont need to embrace it, im pretty sure they wouldnt give a shit about nz hip hop. it isnt about imitating an american its about showing it through your culture and surroundings through hip hop. by acting american with the accents and the style just shows americans that people try to hard to be american. aus hip hop is very respected because they show aussie culture as well as hip hop. fake accents just kills the integrity. i dislike nz hip hop because it tries too hard to be american.

rap has its roots in America, therefore they should rap in American accents. You cant rap with our accents, its sounds wrong, and dont get me wrong I am proud to be a kiwi, but this is why only now kiwi hip hop has broken thru to the US. Aussie hip hop still uses aussie accents, the americans wont embrace that

I heard this song at the end of a film called The Tattooist. I don't listen to Hip Hop much, but I have to admit that this song rocks!
