Hot (here achieved by running water over it, but a sunny 30 deg C weather will do) will expand the metal so that the Otto Bock Standard Aluminium Hook will not close any more - unless you give it a little whack.

  • The problem must have been a combination of design, shape, and material of this particular hook. - - The answer may be to get a steel hook regardless of the brand; the Otto Bock steel hooks also have no problem with hot / cold. Besides, the golden hook parts look almost too Kitsch - together with the improvised cable it made people think of me as a movie character. Steel and skin colored plastic seem to feel a bit better. More fashionable.

  • Try a Hosmer stainless steel hook ( I use the 555ss) It is not affected by temperature extremes and is also not as tough on the control cables.
