@MrSexxxy20 Cheri went & auditioned for Shalamar after Jodi Watley left without telling Rick, & she was still under contract with Rick & Motown. Rick said, when she returned to rehersal after not making the new Shalamar line up, he told her to get the fuck out! That is why Cheri was not in the MJGs anymore!

I just recently bought the "in my house" best of the mary jane girls on CD. then I looked inside the booklet to read up on them. and it said "Shadow lover is about missing someone you can't have" and I was like wow this sounds really great. so I put the song on and wow I am hooked on it now! all the songs are great. I like Apollonia 6 to, but Mary janes rule... and just one more small comment. it's cool how they based this song on fantasy. kinda like def leppards photograph

That proves that you have the CD because that's just what it says in the booklet. How this never got much airplay is beon me. IMO the Mary Jane Girls never made a bad record. I can jam on any song. Any song they made could have been a hit had it been promoted correctly. Most albums have 1 or 2 songs and the rest are just fillers but not the Mary Jane Girls. I'm starting to see more and more people come across this who really love this track...
