I installed a Kicker CVT10 on the package shelf of my '95 Mercedes Benz SL600, powered by a Kicker ZX500.1 amp at 2 ohms.

A few folks asked about performance of such a relatively small, sealed, thin subwoofer in a convertible. So I connected up some audio, ran the camcorder, and got this admittedly rough clip. It's not intended to be perfect audio or video but you can see the subwoofer excursion. Even with the limited audio I hope you can tell that it does the job well.

Note: The audio is not overdubbed. The video and audio are untouched. Volume was enough for folks to identify the song several houses away.

  • I've since installed a Kicker Solo-Baric L7 in the SL600 just below where this cabinet sits, driven by the same amp. It sounds great as well, though not as much thump. I'll post a new video as soon as there's enough sunshine here.

  • Seriously. This isn't a doctored video or any faking. I'm not good enough for that! I'll be posting an updated video soon with my new system on display. The CVT10 has actually been replaced...

  • i have that same sub/box combo and it doesnt even come close to flexing that much. especially on a rock song.

  • @d1vball09 Then I don't know what's happening - maybe I got lucky with a good setup or I'm pumping more power through it. But I didn't modify the box, speaker, or video... that's just how it works! :) Maybe the speaker wire? I'm using super thick stuff...

  • Ha! No, not fake. I didn't edit the video at all. You can come over and listen any time you like. :-)

  • @peterkim1999 um yes. the only sub kicker makes that is any good is a solo x and better can be found for less than you can buy a new one for.

  • @Cr1ms0nPwnda So are you saying that the Kicker CVT is not a good sub? I have one and it simply rocks.

  • @mikedan99 Always pays to use a good quality oxygen free AWG rated wires, not "Gauge" stuff you see on eBay and Amazon. Some of the best speaker/power wires are made right here in the USA.

  • cool stuff; check out my benz when u can

  • spends a bunch of money on the car and cant afford good shit for the radio

  • @mikedan99 Awkward..

  • OMG IT SOUNDS AMAZON.

  • You should get a better sub if you driving an S-Class man.

  • @mikedan99 true but would be expensive to repair
