  • @volvomantom ..........Leaving the high street shops either empty/run down and worse than you described, or filled with the small businesses like take a ways for family run shops and take always to make a living, I'm pretty sure give it another 60 years and there will be a similar conversation between 2 people on some wacky smart phone app or something, haha! Thanks for replying anyway

  • @volvomantom Ah I see what you mean, although I'm the same age so can't really comment on something that I never witnessed. Like I say time do change, and so do industry's, non of the mills are running anymore because times change, clothes get made out of many materials now a days and not just wool, people buy new shoes instead of having them fixed, the internet plays a MASSIVE role in today's industry and the way we buy and sell things....

  • @samdub

  • @samdub Walk around Bradford today and all you see charity shops, takeaways and betting shops. It's completely pathetic. In the 40s and 50s the variety of businesses in Bradford was ten times better. Shops selling locally produced wool, busy department shops, etc. I've seen a pic of Market Street in 1952 and it was bustling with horse and carts and people in overalls etc. Now all you see are trendy young cunts spitting everywhere. It's disgusting and saddening.

  • @volvomantom I'm interested into what your point is making this comment? Times change mate, plz reply

  • Smashing - makes me a bit homesick. I'm a Yorkshire Lass now living in Wales. Used to visit the museum regularly with my Dad, and can remember having huge Yorkshire Puds in the caf on winters days!! Thanks for posting. x x

  • I'm only 23, yet it makes me sick how people these days have no respect for the way of life that made today possible.

It's a dead shame, you know...walk around Bradford today and you get lots of takeaways and the like...if you did the same walk in 1952 it'd be a very, very different story.
