This is a selection of clips from the forthcoming documentary 'The Story of the Black Arrows - in their own words'. It is available through vIT Media's subsidiary, Classic Machine Films at classicmachinefilms.com
This trailer features many still photographs but in the final documentary these will be augmented with archive film footage. At time of going to press, we are still waiting for copyright approval on the archive material, which has been sourced from the RAF Film Archive and from private collections.
The film features interviews with The Black Arrows' founder, Air Commodore Roger Topp, his successor Air Vice Marshal Peter Latham and team members including Air Chief Marshal Sir Patrick Hine. Other features include interviews with ground crew and the team restoring Roger Topp's aircraft, XG194 - the Hunter he flew when he led the 22-aircraft loop.
My Dads cousin (my second cousin I think), Flt Lt Stanley (Timber) Wood was one of the Black Arrow pilots. He was sadly killed in 1960 in a mid-air collision during practice over RAF Watisham. He'd been married 6 months. I'm so proud to be related to him. RIP Stanley.
