that looks so tight does it hurt?

Thank you so much :) I really hated the way I tied my obi for Iaido until now, because it was very bulky and made the hakama pants look odd, but I'm going to try this at class tonight and see if it works better. Thank you!

@Patriot5401 yes....you put your Gi on, then obi, then Hakama.

does obi come before hakama?

Funny too see so many ways of tying it.

Thanks for the video. Too bad about the camera shake

@vtvango88821 its different for Iaido. when you search for how to tie for kimono or yukata specify the gender and the fact that you want it for kimono/yukata as men and women wear different obi in kimono

euuu...very great it's exactly what i search, thank you...but just i question how long your obi is?
that's not the way you tie obi for yukata or kimono...

This is the way I tie my Obi for Iai and Kenjutsu. It has served me well fo 30 odd years. The Obi goes round the body 3 times so that there are two "slots betreen the material, the outer one for holding the Katana and the inner for the shoto or tanto....or for a fan in very hot weather! The knot is to the right of the spine allowing full travel of the saya around the body when drawing you blade.
