Non-believers have a basic human right to be shielded from religious laws. Specifically, the islamic rules regarding idolatry and drawing Muhammad are not enforceable on non-believers. See the UN's Universal Human Rights Declaration, signed in 1948, Article 18, which guarantees freedom of religion as a basic human right.

Freedom of religion also means "there will be no compulsion in religion".

The Qur'an is chock full of hateful insults to non-believers, called us "wretched", and advising that we're to be tortured in hell. Don't you think that breeds a climate of hate, in which muslims become insensitive to the rights of non-believers? Which is more insulting, being told you're going to have your skin flayed off with fire, and your face smashed with steel hammers, or gazing at a line drawing of Muhammad?
