As if. He's supposed to be immortal. Killing off Clarke now would mean the end of the Superman franchise = Which raises the question..... Was there any actual point in Smallville? Just to see him perish in the 3rd series. Although I have to admit it would be entertaining, intriguing and well - worth watching if he did decide to die. xD

@reposetion this answer is a little late, but watch the episode Visitor, season 2 ep 18. clark tells pete it's called kryptonite, then pete askes if it's spelt with a C or a K.

They didn't change it, it was just that the meteorites that fell in smallville were laced with the rock Kryptonite. So they called it kryptonite meteor rocks. But in general he is negatively affected by the rock kryptonite.

only Clark & people who know his secret call it Kryptonite- people that know about Krypton. To everyone else, they just know it as meteor rocks. In the first couple of series before Clark knew about Krypton, he called them meteor rocks too. ^_^
