@Nooblet68 Didn't see your comment till after I posted my reply to XxBillyGoatNinjaxX but now I have I totally agree with you in every way. The simple fact of the matter is display pilots are NOT allowed to break the sound barrier at an airshow and are NOT allowed to excede certain speeds due to altitude and airspace restrcitions around the display venue. Good comment though mate! :-)

@XxBillyGoatNinjaxX The Red Arrows are world famous how can you possibly tell me you've never heard of them!? :O The Red Arrows can go at the speed of sound if they wanted too but they don't need too because their display is all that matters in the end, although I'm certainly not doubting the quality of the BA's display as that is also of an incredible standard! I love airshows in fact so that to be fair was a rather judgmental comment which I have to disagree with. :-)

@skibum175 And I have seen jets at an airshow in Tacoma at JBLM break the sound barrier.
-
@stricka991 they did break the sound barrier in Seattle WA and i should know cuz i live there.
-
@ssgsdeadweight Fuck it. Go supersonic. I bet the guys that got hurt from the jet were saying it was worth it.

@XxBillyGoatNinjaxX You've obviously been living under a rock for your life. It's not that the Red Arrows aren't popular, but it's most people's ignorance to other countries air display teams.
As far as I'm concerned, the Element of Surprise is only useful in the battlefield, and doesn't do ANYTHING in an air display.
'If you dont like airshows, leave. Id much rather see and hear them than some semi pro Red Arrows'
Try structure your sentences properly so they make sense next time.

@XxBillyGoatNinjaxX They are NOT allowed to go faster than the speed of sound in populated areas retard.

@BlankBrandon If you're talking about the vapor cloud over the wings, that's called a Prandtl–Glauert singularity, and only indicates that you've come close to the sound barrier. There's a MASSIVE difference between subsonic passes, and complete sonic booms (present during the breaking of the sound barrier).
@MrSpitfire090 cool story, different planes do different things.

I'm a little sad to be writing this when we should be talking about how the Blue Angels are the tip of the flying spear. Anyway, ACTUALLY, anyone is allowed to break the sound barrier over populated areas as long as they are in class echo airspace (18,000MSL+). Second, the speed of sound is not constant. As such if it's in your routine to do 650 knots (remembering that SOS is 675.84 at sea-level and Standard Atmosphere) one nice sunny HOT day your subsonic, the next cold day...BOOM! Children
