The Inspiration behind WLSFA:

As Identical twins, both Rosemary (GastricRose) and Connie (Quiltingconnie) lives were affected by Morbid Obesity.

In 2004, based on her doctor's advice, Connie decided that she wanted to have Roux-en-Y Gastric Bypass surgery and suggested that her sister do the same. At the time Rosemary and Connie both had the same insurance company, but different policies.

Connie was denied surgery because her policy exempted Weight Loss Surgery. Rosemary was given approval and with in one month underwent her RNY surgery.

Fast forward six years: Connie continues to struggle and is surviving at 350 pounds. In the past six years Connie has been turned down for weight loss surgery three more times because her health insurance exempts it. Connie suffers from type-2 Diabetes, arthritis, hypertension and several other health issues related to her morbid obesity. Connie needs surgery on both of her knees, she has very limited mobility, exercise is difficult and on some days impossible.

Connie has been told she can not have the knee surgery because of her weight. Connie is of limited means and paying for the weight loss surgery or getting a loan is out of the question.

Rosemary is now six years post-operative from her Gastric Bypass, is thriving at a healthy weight and enjoys life.

  • Question

Will you be posting and updated montage showing your completed weight loss journey and surgery scars?

  • @aliska06 Yes that video will be coming soon. I intend to show it all.

  • I thought this was a platform 2 agree r disagree, that is what life is all bout. Not here 2 start trouble, but when I c things that r not rght I spk up bout it. When that butcher shop in Columbia did u dirty,i called & I wrote in2 ur defense cause they were wrong. This foundation ctr is bug 2 me & if it does not stand 4 the right things, than I will definetly pose my opinion of disagreemnt & go against it. I don't support anything that is out 2 out smart any hard working human being.

  • @berjouhi I thank you for standing up for me & writing that letter however, I could not disagree more with you on the development of this foundation. I would never speak about something if I did not know the facts. This foundation is 100% real and in no way is out to scam people for their money. I personally know these people and have met with them. I know the founders and the people behind it. Im not sure why your so against it but your entitled to your opinion. Its 100% real!

  • @berjouhi I am on the board of WLSFA. This organization began through the youtube WLS community. We are family here. We support another. I had medical insurance to pay for my RNY last year. Some don't. Connie, gastricRose's twin sister, is the 1st receiptant. Our website explains so much. Also, Oct 2, 2010 is the debut of our documentary done by Bariatric TV. Surely you've heard of them? Toni is on the board also. If I can answer any questions, please contact me. Nicole Buckley, RN
