DID OBAMA REALLY ABANDON THE BASE ? RACHEL MADDOW SPEAKS WITH MEREDITH VIEIRA ON THE TODAY SHOW

With the exception of a few debates with people in my own party regarding this tax deal issue, for the most part I have taken a step back and watched other people debate this issue . The conclusion I've come up with is that we all have points and blame. Some more than others . I'm going to cover each one, and what I think of each view point briefly .

A. (Progressives wing of the base positives) It's good the base has rejected this bill . The bill in my view is not enough given to Democrats to just get basically 13 months of unemployment . They should stick to their guns and hold out until some demands are met .
B. (Progressive wing negatives ) The base has to realize that the tax cuts to the rich are going to be apart of this bill . There is no way around it as much as we all hate it . Although that doesn't mean we can't take out a year of the tax cuts to the rich ? Who says it just to be about adding stuff to the deal ? The house Dems and the base has to decide what constitutes a fair deal . What can be reasonably added to this deal that will allow you to stomach the tax cuts to the rich for a year or two instead of just screaming you hate the deal .




A. (Obama positives ) The accusations that " Obama betrayed us " or that, " he doesn't have a spine " is hyperbolic and silly . Not to mention, it's untrue . He has a spine, it's just against his own base haha. The man is smart, caring, and has done so much, I couldn't even begin to put it all on this page in the short amount of time he's been in office . He has gotten health care passed, the credit card bill of rights passed, student loan reform passed, a deal to reduce nukes, etc.
B. ( Obama negatives ) He is Aloof, calculating, and distant in his decision making . He doesn't seem to communicate with the house & senate well . This deal he struck with the GOP needs to be improved, allot . He should have been more open with his base in regards to what this tax deal entailed before agreeing to it's final print .




A. ( Republicans positives ) You have to give it to them . Even though I disagree with what they stand for in almost every political fashion and form, they held their people together in congress to put up a united front against our agenda be it right or wrong . Even liberals can't help but acknowledge this .
B. ( Republican Negatives ) They are ideological to the point where even unsound ideas are still pushed by their party heads . They lie allot . They are hypocrites . I know there is allot of it to go around but the GOP are the type of hypocrites and liars that will try to justify their hypocrisies and lies . They are the party of no ideas and they are for the rich .

If Obama values us ( the people that elected him) why did he allow Social Security to be part of this deal ? SS does not have any effect on the Debt it is a Self funded program ! Sorry but his days are numbered and they should be he betrayed the people that sent him there

If the umemployment rate was @ 3%, hell, he would be around 75%! Remember DODT, Affordable HC Act, SCHIP, Lilly Ledbetter, GM & Chrysler bailout, killing Osama bin-Laden, Somali Pirates, Iraq W/D, tax cuts for your broke ass and many other things you have failed to mention? 47% is still very good even with the economy the way it is.

@runsaber1 You said, "a failed stimulus which created NO jobs." Due to the stimulus 2.7 million jobs were creaed according to the CBC. That's more jobs than dubya created in both his terms. The CBC also reported that the unemployment rate would have been above 11% if dubya's policies were still in tact.
