How to get a better spiral position

For people who want to know how to get your spiral positions higher. This is a great way to strengthen those muscles, and this, and stretching made me go from not being able to touch my toes(and only getting my foot a couple of inches off of the ground for this excercise) to being able to do a full split. SO, moral of the story.. with a little bit of effort, you can go a LONG way.

Took me about a month to see real improvement, and I was able to do.. pretty much a full split by June/July. (And obviously in the last two where you go fully into spiral position, on the ice you don't want to drop your back, but for this, go ahead and do it if you have to) So um, here ya go. Good luck! ps. I love how it looks so effortless on video, when in reality it's extremely hard and my leg is shaking like crazy. :P

  • It's still not perfect, it's a work in progress at the moment. :) but I've stretched every day for 2 years, that probably helps.

  • @princesitadecubillas Your muscles are probably weak near the lower back and butt area. Try toning that area and see if that helps. That was my problem anyway.

  • I'm flexible enough to do a split, but I can't lift my leg to do a spiral!! any tips??
