  • The Cold War is long dead, and it's a pity it didn't take many of our ancient politicians with it.

  • This guy is lobbyed to the extreme. Don't listen to him. The fact that he is somehow a Democrat and talking on FoxNews should send off alarms to everyone.

  • I am watching american tv and I am shocked by this propaganda. Guantanamo, Patriot Act, War are problems for individual liberties, elements of a big state, but not universal health care.

Btw. since 2 weeks Austrian universities are occupied by students demanding "free education for everybody" Think about the fact your media does not really mention these struggles.

  • Why do you watch so much fox that you know this? Antisocialism? The democrat speaking Marshall thinks we shouldn't run and gun into a half thought out plan. What person does such a thing will do nothing but fail. Stop whining about fox just don't watch it. Are you from NBC? or MSN? why sign up under a no name in the last few months to complain about a news channel? Austria?

  • the problems will get solved but only by confronting our problems instead of parading our system as the best one in the world. I know personally of third world west indian countries where the level of care is as good as ours or better. you will never see that on CNN, but that is the reality. We have challenges that our finacial situation will not allow us to address as yet. so I speak the truth and wait ... and engage people so others know

  • the lottery is only for remote communities, but our aboriginal peoples get some of the worst health care depending on whether they live on a remote reserve or one near bigger cities. the problem is with all of the health care stuff going on with the states you hear great things about us without the whole story about the inequality the people deal with. People want to paint a picture of how good it is, so they whitewash the turth out of the picture

  • I was shocked to read about the "lottery" in your health care system and the fact that you have to pay to transfer medical records. Neither of these things are the case over here in the Netherlands! I must say I'm a little disappointed to read about these things as I always had a high opinion of Canada. You do indeed have a lot to work on! But judging by the level of development in your country and your political culture, I'm confident these problems can be solved!

  • measures aren't being taken because of our shortage. There is a system to report them to, but it takes years and serious evidence of malpractice to get a doctor barred. We can see another doctor but we have to pay to transfer our medical records from the one to another, bureaucratic bullshit basically.

  • we don't assign our doctors anywhere so the problem is bad in areas and not necessarily everywhere. Its gotten bad enough we have lotteries in certain cities to be able to see the dcotor because there is only one or two to a town of thousands. Some areas offer to pay for med school if you promise to stay to work as a GP for at least 10-15 years. We are working on it, but there is a lot more to do

  • Trade? No thank you. I recently had a few operations to restore my sight. If I lived in the USA I would be blind because there is no way I could have afforded the operations. No system is perfect. When all is said and done I want to keep our Canadian system and persist in getting the goverment to improve it. I think our counrty is a calmer place because we know our fellow Canadians do care about us.

  • On fox news there are loads of experts who just spread sick antisocial propaganda? Who are all these cocks?

  • This is an unbelievable offense against the whole of Europe. Yes we have centralized health care. No we are not a totalitarian state. The US preferes a less efficient system only because of the interest rates of some investors.
