In this video I describe how to achieve a REAL tape stop effect in Ableton Live, without time-stretching! Slow down & pitch down your audio at the same time.

  • it works on you perfectly. but when i try it, the pitch is going back to the normal speed of the loop. am i doing something wrong?

  • @technogiapada it is likely that you are taking a warped clip and dropping it into the sampler. this will result in the sampler playing back the original unwarped clip at the original pitch. to solve this, simply consolidate your clip before putting it into the sampler. this can be done by selecting the clip, right clicking and choosing "Consolidate", or pressing cntr/cmd - J. this will write a new unwarped audio file with any changes you maybe by warping the first time around.

  • Is it possible to achieve this in simpler?? every step worked fine until it came to adjusting the pitch bend range, then i couldn't seem to find out how to adjust it from it's default setting of i think 5 semi tones.

    Cheers

  • @IAMALABASTER sorry for the delayed response. unfortunately you can't make the pitch bend go further using simpler, but if you check kvr or something just find a free sampler vst that gives you a greater pitch bend. that or buy ableton's sampler, definitely worth it!

  • actually, there's a nice vst plugin that gives a pretty much nice result in like 2 seconds

    its called dblue_tapestop

  • @Painkillazzz ya i've heard of that. unfortunately there's no option for mac :( it's always nice to do things by hand though, opens up a lot more options.

  • Hey, great videos I've been learning a lot. Just had one little question. In 3:02 you press CMD+J to consolidate the one bar you selected. Couldn't the same thing have been done by selecting the bar and pressing CMD+E? If not, how is it functionally different?

  • Thank you!

  • OH Thanx!!! incredible... simple... cool

  • what about using glide?
