On 10/13/09 the California Energy Commission (CEC) held a hearing on their proposed TV regulations that would ban 25% of big screen TVs from being sold in California. They are also estimated to cost California $50 million a year in lost tax revenues and destroy 4,600 jobs.

2 hours and 41 minutes into the hearing - and after patiently listening to half a dozen utility companies (power plants and transmission lines are incredibly difficult to get built in California so the utilities have a financial and political stake in seeing these sorts of regulations pass) voice their support - the first opposing voice was allowed to approach the podium. But before they could even start speaking, Commissioner Julie Levin suggested they keep their comments to summary form since it was getting close to lunch time.
