Just because you have to wear a uniform to school doesn't mean you can't assert your individuality.

Step 1: Know the rules

Know your school's rules before you make any purchases.

Step 2: Start at the top

Start at the top. Use all kinds of barrettes, headbands, and other hair ornaments. Or tie your hair back with scarves.

Step 3: Accessorize with jewelry

Pick up some cool jewelry—or make something your trademark, like a personalized necklace or unique ring.

Step 4: Scarf it up

Buy a variety of scarves and learn how to tie them in different ways. This alone will give you dozens of looks.

Tip: As you add to your accessories, think colors and prints—especially if your school uniform is a somber solid, like navy blue.

Step 5: Cinch it

Forego the standard black leather belt for something unique, like one with a vintage buckle. Or use a scarf as a belt.

Step 6: Tee time

Sneak a bit of color under your regulation shirt with a brightly colored or cool tee.

Step 7: Watch out

Don't forget watches—they are a great way to add pizzazz to your outfit.

Tip: Girls can make a statement with their choice of manicure and polish.

Step 8: Be footloose

If you don't have to wear a standard loafer or Oxford, shoes are an obvious way to put your best foot forward.

Step 9: Carry it off

Make your backpack a canvas for your personality with charms, pins, patches, and key chains. Or tie a scarf around a pocketbook for a more sophisticated look.

In Australia you can't change your shoes. In primary you can but they have to be closed shoes but high school you can't. But i thought that even in America you can't wear high heels to school?! Wow

Going into high school this year, got a new uniform. It's a knee length blue and white skirt (most of the girls hem it tho) and white button up shirt, we are meant to wear navy stockings and a navy school jumper too. I think the school is quite strict on uniform rules even though it's a public school, so I doubt we can wear massive scarfs or stuff like that. I think I'll get away with black stockings, black lace-up boots or converses, my bright blue ice watch and maybe my Blink 182 badge <3

We're not allowed scarves in my school, or jewellery, or any accessories in our hair, not allowed coloured shirts under our school uniform, not allowed nail polish, not allowed heels, and not even allowed coats...and if we do wear them, we get excluded...

our school doesnt use uniforms the only rules r no spageti strap tank tops and no shorts or skirts shorted then your fingers tips with your arms hanging down. oh also no rlly low v-necks. i wear sweaters and jeans and converse all the ime i think im good. does this comment have anything to do with this vid? nope :3 lol idk.

Why don't schools get that it is good to accessories your school uniform because of individuality and more confidence? I thought that being confident is one of the main things for getting good grades and good jobs...
