When Safin played like this he would have destroyed every player that ever lived. Just a shame he coulden't do it more often. Liked a beer or 8 did Marat....

Safin had a huge serve, it wasn't the best and I wouldn't say Djokovic moves that much better than Safin either. Safin's movement only took a hit in his later years on tour.

You are obviously a Safin-Fan, which is OK. I myself like him very much. The last time I cheered for a Federer adversary was that match 05 in Melbourne. I guess, he & Nadal are the only ones who defeated a Federer in topshape. Safin had the best righthand serve from the left ad side. However, his body suffered too many injuries and staying healthy, fit and focused is a crucial part of pro tennis. Djokovic is more focused & has better footwork, coz Safin is taller &heavier.

The Federer match was impressive, still Safin would be a bad matchup for Nadal and Djokovic. I don't see how Nadal could hurt Safin from the baseline. Djokovic's level was high at AO, but not as high as Safin's here, or at AO 2005.

LOL. Djokovic in his best year couldn't even win a set off past prime Safin on his worst surface. As for Nadal, even Tsonga, Davy, JMDP, Nalbandian, heck Murray can make him look bad. I'm sure Safin could too.

I have just watched Nadal vs Djokovic before this match. I dare say that both Nadal and Nole would beat the two here.
