  • Is it cheaper to reload 223s and 308s with a press rather than just buying a box of them? I heard that with the cost of buying all the equipment needed (press, dies, etc), it really doesn't make a difference and most people do it only for extreme accuracy. Is that true?

  • @Nelmistro It just cost me < $21 per hundred to reload with high end components in 223. A box of just OK 30-06 cost over $20 for 20 rounds. I just reloaded with Sierra MatchKings and I was under 40 cents a round or $8 for a box of 20

  • Hi Paul, You may want to wear latex gloves when handling brass that's coated w. case lube. I don't know about Dillon's, but several other case lube compounds have benzine in them. If you have carbide dies, you prob. don't need the case lube anyway. Cheers.

  • @bartofilms

GOOD POINT ! I just rechecked and the Dillon Case Lube conatains lanolin and isopropyl alcohol so it should be OK. I know I don't need the lube and it works fine without it but with the lube it runs like silk ! For 50 rounds may not be worth it , when I am doing 500+ rounds it just makes it so easy and smooth.

  • Thanks so much for your overview. It was informative. I am in the market for this 650 press. Where is the best plce to buy? New or used. I will be reloading 223, 308, 45, 38, and 5.7

  • @clintmilt1 The price is the same anywhere you buy a Dillon or you can buy it from Dillon or you can buy it used and save the tax. Used presses sell for about as much as new ones because Dillion's have a no BS warrenty so you can keep it forever and it's always in warrenty with no receipt. SWEET or what !
