When using Silicone, is a release agent required for molding Dark Red Casting Wax?

A release agent might make removal of the casting easier, but it would not be required. Test first

This may sound dumb, but if im using a hardened clay model, will putting it into the soft clay for the molding process cause any damage to the model? Will it make it loose its hardness?

You would need to try a small experiment to determine that.

How would you mould something that is a hollow cylinder? I almost think i've got it but i'd love your input. It's flat at both ends... But hollow inside... (it's a simplified camera lens for a model of a camera i'm building for school it won't house glass or anything)

You would need an inner and outer mold. The trick will be removing the inner mold after the casting has cured.

The box you describe contains 2160 cubic inches (12x12x15=2160). A pound of silicone contains about 23 cubic inches. That means your box would require almost 94 pounds of silicone.

Try "slip casting" ... make the mould in two parts (or more depending on complexity) pour into it the clay, let it 'set for a bit' so the outer part near the mould dries, then pour out the inside leaving it hollow. there will need to be a hole for this to work but this can be filled in. Try searching for "slip casting", I used plaster of paris moulds and clay slip. To help release it I used petroleum jelly.
