Let's start with a little snippet of my introduction to my thesis. My thesis looks to how identity is constructed, re-figured and disturbed... this is a first re-thinking of identity. Identity and the act of defining one's identity is creative/constructive. When we identify ourselves, it is both empowering and productive as well as exclusionary. In this segment I talk about the power of repetition and re-inscription of identity where it is really impossible to truly encase who we are by a single word when history, location, and infinite intersections of ourselves and our expressions are intertwined with a single identifiable term (like "gay", "woman", "disabled", "intersex").
