www.westbromblog.blogspot.com Republican presidential hopefull Rudy Giuliani talks exclusivley to Sky News about his recent visit to the UK, his admiration for Margaret Thatcher and the UK/US special relationship.
Fascinating to see how differently Thatcher is viewed all over the world. The way in which Giuliani speaks about her here, and how other world leaders (most notably the current Italian Prime Minister Berlusconi) continually heap such praise and admiration upon her couldn't be further from how she is viewed by most Britons. Only in Britain could a leader of such distinction and quality be treated with such contempt by thier own people.
Its interesting how the rest of the world tends to view Maggie in a different light from many Britons. My personal standing is that her stand against Communism was crucial and not appreciated enough here and I allways appreciate a tough stance on domestic crime, but her domestic reforms hurt a lot of innocent people as well and that needs to be recognised.
He's not really viable as President because he's just a bit too familiar; he just doesn't have that statesman-like quality (not that Bush does either). However, I'm a Democrat, and I admire Giuliani for his intelligence and his reasoned stance on issues. He speaks a lot of sense in this video.
I like Rudy but am puzzled by his acceptance of Pat Robertson's endorsement, who once said one of the most offensive and treasonous statements about 9/11: that it was a just punishment for gay marriage and abortion, two positions that Rudy supports.
This endorsement and the hypocrisy and lunacy surronding have really turned me off to Rudy.
