Modern Rembrandt tulips have the wonderful streaks without the virus. They might not be exactly like the old ones but they are close enough.

I was looking on wikipedia about the tulip mania, and I discovered that the Semper AUGUSTUS tulip was one of the most prized diseased tulips during this time period. It was known for being the most expensive tulip sold during tulipomania. And also the most beautiful.

I always watch Hank's vlogbrothers videos and at the end i'm either thinking 'Lol!' Or 'Wow I never knew that!' And when I finish watching John's videos, half the time i sit for a minute and then once i am done absorbing whatever his last sentence was I just think 'wow'.

Interestingly enough, the tulip that sold for the most during tulip mania was called the Semper Augustus. :)
