My very first time lapse video, done in the most barbaric of ways : manually taking one picture every 20 or so seconds for one hour and twentyfour minutes.
Some things i wish to point out are the fact that I had set the aspect ratio of the picture to 3:2 instead of 16:9 by mistake, so there will be some nasty black bars at the sides of the video; also, as can be seen, I have had some problems with the lighting, which keeps changing even though ambient light, and camera flash are supposed to be a constant (battery was full).
Special thanks to Metallica for keeping me company at 4 am while taking the pictures !

Full credit for the music goes to Rick Vanman
First track : Atmosphere
Second track : Jingle2

  • Dramatic candle :)

  • @ericjhemp

Haha, thanks, gotta make the most of what you have, right ? :)

  • Good experiment. I see you have later videos which expand the technique. Next time you burn a candle, I suggest that you watch the wick and the dynamics of how the wax changes from solid to liquid and then gas. The gas burns, not the candle. You might see something worth a video in that. (The wax usually has little carbon flecks which show the dynamics of the liquid wax.)

Thank you for taking the time to leave a comment, much appreciated.

Next time I do a similar experiment I will focus on the phenomenon you've described.

  • if you look closely at 1:01 there is string coming from the flame

  • @Bulbulkaya16

    Haha, obviously XD

I thought the effect of it building up would be nice so I simply inverted the photo stream in vegas.

  • @TheUnchainedMind Hey not half bad bro ....i was SO confused with that ice tower how the hell did that even happen? my only explanation is that there was an ice tower that melted and you rewinded it so it looked like it made itself......There is no way that that really happened without rewinding .

  • @Bulbulkaya16

Thank you very much, but I consider this video to be pretty bad honestly, the time lapse part at least.

It was my first try ever and stupid me decided to shoot the pictures in pitch black with the camera flash, and this delightful flicker was the result XD

My second try, with the ice tower was a lot better, as I used both natural light at the beginning and 2 lamps.

Still not satisfied though, it was way too short due to the terrible battery life on the compact camera :)

  • fantastic man
