  • Can you tell me exactly how you made the car (we're suppose to make a very similar one)

  • This was a kit. If you were going to make one from scratch, the key would be to keep the baking soda and vinegar separate until you are ready to launch. In the kit, a tube containing the baking soda is attached to the cork/plug at the end. This allows you to tilt the bottle sideways and move the baking soda in without the vinegar spilling out or mixing in. Once the cork is firmly in place you tilt the bottle upright, the two parts mix, and you quickly put it back down level.

  • way to go a + m! this is erez and allie. the rocket car is awesome. maybe we could make another one but a different kind sometime and put it on youtube.

    bye.

  • (continuation)

The advantage of the kit was the "cork" had a tightener on it - the directions advised "tight but not too tight". Striking that balance with a homemade cork/plug would probably be the difficult part.

I think other cars/rockets like this sometime put the baking soda in a paper towel on a string. They then shake the bottle when they are ready. The vinegar soaks through the paper and the reaction begins.

    Hope this helps.
