Edward Trimnell talks about a topic from Chapter 8 in the book "Why You Need a Foreign Language & How to Learn One": the importance of foreign languages as strategic tools in the global environment.

Included is a brief discussion of a misperception that many Americans have: the notion that foreign language study is somehow "un-American". Trimnell discusses the need for more Americans to learn Arabic, Chinese, and Russian for strategic purposes.

  • Thank you for this video

  • PEOPLE,....PEOPLE, Do you know some American soldiers saved their lives when they were captured by insurgents in Iraq, just bcuz they were able to communicate with these unfriendly ppl. One of the soldiers had this book: " THE GOLDEN BOOK OF ARABIC" using that book they clearified so mnay misuderstanding and were able to convince them to let them go!!!

I would say learn ARABIC and give the gift of this life saving book to all soldeirs!

I found it on AUTHOR HOUSE com and cost only 20 bucks!

  • Americans are barbaric. Not all, but the overwhelming majority. If someone here accused me of being unpatriotic, I would just say, "You got me. Busted. Now what are you going to do? Lock me up in a cell under the headquarters of the secret police for not being 'gleichgeschaltet'"

  • great points
