Everyone knows that Indian girls are beautiful and yes, generalisation sucks....the men fail to realise that it's our sperm that determine the gender of the offspring....I apologise on the behalf of my gender

even women in india see daughters as burdens sepecially the illiterates. until these women change their perception about girls, love them and see them as humans with a right to live, the problem will never be solved.

@NaPakAsstani THIS problem is ENTIRELY the fault of Hindu men. India should have have kept its brief period of Buddhism, and everyone ( except the most upper class ) wold be better off in India if they converted and gave up that FOREIGN religion imposed by invaders, so they would be the master caste, and everyone else would be brainwashed and in their place. The British Imperialists were the worst pieces of shit, no doubt, but this problem is upon Hindus themselves.

@33tolu1 That is only going to happen if they repudiate Hinduism, which REQUIRES that daughters are severe burdens ---- so much so, that sometimes Hindu mothers sell their kidneys to pay a dowry to marry their daughters.
-
@4485lolo It isn't your sperm, but your religion of Hinduism, with its dowry system and extreme mistreatment of women, in which even mothers feel compelled to kill their own daughters. THAT is what is causes the very extreme shortage of women in India.

"We hold up half the sky. But we get probably 10% of that." That's powerful.

India really needs a huge Renaissance.

Around 1400 years at the advent of Islam in Arabia most people there had not the right faith and the pagan practices were generally in vogue, which included the killing and burying alive of the female newborn children. Some people were believing that Angles were daughters of God and preferred male children for themselves. This state of affairs is mentioned by Allah in Al-Quran, Surah 16 – an-Nahl, in verses 57,58 & 59 reproduced in another comment below.
How can this problem be tackled? What should India be doing? Can the world do any more than criticize from the sidelines? What is the price of doing nothing?
