  • APPLE DO GET VIRUS .. DONT BUY THERE BOLLOCKS ..

  • The majority of Mac users I talk to (or rather try to, heh) seem to have the head up the arse attitude of this commercial. They take it literally...like they are fish being tricked by bate and lined in.

Seriously, if you make Mac or OS choice your answer to security, you fail. And consider that many types of cybercrime out there have nothing to do with the OS. Ever heard of phishing, people? That has nothing to do with OS. That's targeting YOU as the weak point. Security via obscurity =/= safe.

  • @fixinfotech Less than 10% of the computing world uses the Mac OS. If Macs can't get viruses then why do they come preinstalled with virus protection software? Wouldn't it be unnecessary for them to come with that software if it were true that MAcs can't get viruses? Also you might want to check the security rating between Windows 7 and Mac OS X because Windows 7 has a higher rating.

  • @fixinfotech Actually, they do.

There are tons of viruses for macs. For Safari. For iTunes. For photoshop.

I've never gotten a virus on my PC, simply because I'm not an idiot and I know how to use the internet.

Most viruses aren't downloaded because of lack of security, they're downloaded because the end-user is an idiot.

Imagine, if Macs truely were virus free, then ATM's would use osx and never be hacked, right? But thats far from the truth.

  • Macs has millions of users who virus makers could exploit due to the fact that the users don't think their computers are vulnerable.

They also would have far less competition and could take advantage of the fact that the users probably are wealthier than the average pc users for malicious purposes.

    So why don't they?

    Because they can't

Keep sucking Bill Gates dick faggots.

  • I actually REALLY do not like this ad. The OSX platform is just as vulnerable to user installed Trojans (programs pretending to be something else) as Windows and even Linux is. Root level is only a password away.

Mac users end up with an unjustified sense of security, which makes them LESS threat aware than a Windows user.

I ask any Mac user who tells me they are virus free to prove it. Religion doesn't work for me. Note: I have a Mac myself - but with anti-virus tools installed :).

  • I actually want the Mac to become more popular. Then all those propaganda lies will soon unravel

  • @ibainesy Where is the link to this "report"?

You know that backing up what you say with real evidence instead of just talking BS is what would separates it from the everyday shit Microsoft Marketing talk?

You can keep on the old "Windows is the best gaming computer" for example, cause that is still true. But Windows is not as safe as Linux, and windows SUCKS in speed compared to Linux. It's just the way it is.

  • @taitaisanchez My point isn't that you should act like the sky is falling, my point is that we all need to be proactive about our security regardless of what OS we use. That includes antivirus software and software like apparmor(sandboxing) where possible. As a part of my duties at work, I'm tasked with keeping credit card processing servers secure, to do this we take a proactive approach including firewalls, and intrusion detection software (both network and file system).

  • @taitaisanchez

The average computer user is about as smart as a turd. The average mac user is as smart as a condescending turd. There is always a point to attack. There's no need to attack the OS. Software and the user are weak as well. With time and money, anything is possible.

  • @v9vREBORN How? Turning off external services I really don't need(Which for nearly all non-Windows OSes is default) and keeping my OS and browser up to date regularly is as good of a security practice as I need. Chrome survived pwn2own, and my machine doesn't randomly open up ports for regular system operation.

Just because Windows was(is? see above; Windows 7 is supposed to be much better) swiss cheese doesn't mean that any OS can fall because "pro hackers" target me.
