@Meteddica Arsenal haven't won anything for years but are still in the CL, do they consider themselves a 'proper' club do you think? They seem to have bridged that gap quite nicely. That qualifying for the CL is seen as an achievment is bollocks, and you'll find a lot of supporters would agree with that statement.If you measure 'success' as being in the top 4, then have at it. I'd rather Villa win the Cup of the Carling cup.

@Stupot2030 I can assume that because you'd have to be incredibly pretentious to not want your club to taste success. Any supporter who claims to not want Champions League football and everything that comes with it is full of shit. Of course, if your team is shit and achieving nothing year after year, I suppose it allows people to drone on about how they're a "proper club"

@Meteddica How do you know that the poster you're lambasting as 'fickle' would have liked Villa to become a media circus like Man U/Chelsea, et al if we'd cracked the top 4? To assume that is the case is illogical, but seeing as your entire critique is based on that assumption, you're having to go with it.

My point is that the Villa fan was bitching about top four clubs when Villa themselves were close to securing a 4th place finish not so long ago and I bet he'd have been happy to sit among the likes of United and Chelsea. But now that Villa are an embarrassment, he's being fickle and claiming that teams in the top four aren't proper clubs. It's a fickle and illogical thing to say.
