really... you don't have to hit a Mechanical switch to engage them... haha.. of course they are electronically triggered, all air bag systems are.

That has to do with the fact that the I30 and the Kia ceed were mostely engineered in Germany and build developed under German guidelines. The Sportage, Tuscan like the Chevrolet Captive and the Opel Antara were developed in Korea where crashtest experience isn´t quite as refined as here in Europe.
