@danielrdrown I was one of those 100,000, and it's been a desert island record for me ever since. Thank you so much for these posts. I just found your channel tonight. It's a godsend. So many recordings I'd never heard.

@danielrdrown I was fortunate to see Bobbie in Vegas and she was gracious enough to meet with me and my family after the show. I mentioned how much I liked Patchwork and she said, "I think that was my best." She was very proud of it.. She was clearly frustrated about the release of Girl From Cincinatti. She shook her head and rolled her eyes and said, "Capitol Records!!!!"

@cojoification I had befriended an older gentlemen who had been a Capitol Records a&r man. He told me how the boys club at the label tried to tank her 1971 album ' PatchWork' because she had so much control of the project. The label heads were excited about her sessions but the staffers resented her for challenging their positions.in 1970, Bobbie had sold 2 million records and earned the right to helm her own sessions.PatchWork peaked at #203 on the pop album charts and sold 100,000 copies.

what a sweet song, I bet she did write it.
In 1973, Bobbie was working on her followup to the masterful 'PatchWork'. Capitol Records even had the cover photos taken for the new album but then they dropped a bombshell. They insisted she sign a second tier artist contract at a standard royality( Bobbie's original contract gave her the same rate as The Beatles) before they would release the album . She refused having her multi-million dollar Howard Hughs Vegas contracts to fall back on. I bet this gem is from those sessions.
