We don't know how the future will be. Mankinds history learn us that it's ignorant to laught at dissidents. Tomorrow you could be one of the dissidents you laught at yesterday.

If you have to choose to die at Earth and try to go to Mars and survive there the choice is easy for me.

I, and surely thousand of other pioneers will take the chance to try to travel to the frontiers and begin new lives.

What a kook. Design rejected by NASA because there was no space for food or water for astronauts. Sure, sign me up. I´ll go to Mars and live off the land. It might work.

Dr Zubrin thinks the pioneers will be dissidents, like the protestants coming to the new world. What kind of dissidents? Technology dissidents, of course!

That´s it then - pack all the crackpots like Dr Zubrin into rocket ships and send them to Mars to live off the land.

actually the design was initially rejected by nasa because it did not contain enough launches , it is now used as the basis for a plan if we ever decide to do this . the thing here is people like to label outspoken people as crackpots . assault the idea not the person... if you assault the person not the idea you are making a fallacious argument

you gotta remember they dont know if they can get it done...but killing people gets quicker results. makes u wonder if you should bring a child in this world, if killing people brings in the bug bucks

apparently it will take a full year to go back and forth to Mars, being allowed to stay there for only a few weeks. So if people are gonna go there, they'll need to be dead serious to do it.

Did you watch the whole series? Dr. Zubrin conclusively proves that a 6-month one way flight gets you 18 months on the Martian surface. And if you use more exotic propulstion (VASIMR), you can shorten that 6 months to 39 days!

As for Mars, we will get there eventually.
