Before there was The Twilight Zone, before there was The Outer Limits, there was this short lived show that focused on the supernatural. Claiming that the stories were based on real events (they didn't have the internet back then, so no one could Google and see that the stories were all made up), host John Newland tried to give you the adult, tv version of a campfire ghost story each week. The only thing missing was the flashlight in his face (the spot light didn't quite have the same feel) and the fire itself.

  • Horror novel see video book trailer

  • Why was there always that wagon wheel shadow behind him?

  • "they didn't have the internet back then, so no one could Google and see that the stories were all made up" lmao

  • There were several different variations of John Newland's introduction before the opening title. One of them went this way:

"I hardly know what to tell you about the next half-hour- but it HAS been reported as true, by those to whom it happened. It has been investigated- and no one, as yet, has been able to explain it...or disprove it..."

  • This show scared the britches off me as a boy of nine-ten - and I watched it alone!

  • Hi,

A lot of the shows were BASED on actual events. For instance, the story "Encounter" presents the tale of a pilot who goes missing after a UFO event and explores the phenomenon of "Angel Hair", a mysterious floss-like substance left behind in some documented UFO cases. The real 1953 "Kinross" case where Air Force pilots disappeared after a too-close encounter with a UFO is also mentioned.
