Ancient Lore:
Tropical Jungle Ancient Lore I
Tropical Jungle Ancient Lore III
Tropical Jungle Ancient Lore VI

Tropical Jungle Ancient Lore I:
After obtaining the flute, stand in front of the totem and play the tune backwards:
1: Left, down, 1 and 2 at the same time.
2: Left and 1 at the same time.
3: 1.
4: Left.

Tropical Jungle Ancient Lore III:
Get into the gondola and keep riding it back and forth until the treasure chest appears.
This only works when the Goblins are still awake.

Tropical Jungle Ancient Lore VI:
Once the Goblins have been drugged, itemize them all and drop the Totems into the soup.

NOTE: Secret treasure can only be obtained after having beaten "Barbaros's Land - Final Battle"!

how do you get the ancient lore? I've beaten the game and sent out what's-his-name several times and have yet to find any...

You DO get Ancient Lore by sending out Maddy.

Don't worry, I had the same problem. Just keep trying.
