Mine is missing the same part of the buster rifle. Just got mine out of the attic. You can actually glue the arms into socket with no problem. I would have done it years ago but I thought I would kill the articulation. Just glue the ridged ends.
I had this model as well, but I couldn't take it with me when I left for college. Like you, I love it, but it has really shoddy construction. I heard the Japanese did get a release, but it was of better quality because it did have a light and its panel lines were painted.

I have that toy too. I bought mine when it came out, its very detailed. I love the toy though.
I would never sell mine.

i had this for about 10 years too. bought it for about 18 bucks. and some of the legs turned yellow due to sunlight i think...
