For those of you wondering what it's like studying Ivrit in Ulpan Gordon, here's a video of the lowest point so far. Fortunately it has nothing to do with the actual studying. I know what you're thinking - how useless. Welcome to the Internet.
We got dragged out of class because the editor of Sha'ar LaMatchil was onsite. She spoke a lot about the newspaper, which was painful enough, and then dropped the bombshell that she was also a music teacher. Suddenly my friend Mr M's joke vision of "The Ulpan Song" came into very real focus.
Sure enough, she sat down at the piano and started to play before anyone could stop her. Nobody could stop cringing - it was all a bit 70s, and not in a good way. Note also the extreme lack of audience participation, mostly because of the embarrassment factor.
Luckily apart from this aberration, the Ulpan has been excellent, great vibe, great teaching, jolly good all round.
