The reason why bear mace works so well against bears is because their sense of smell, which is estimated to be seven times greater than a bloodhounds. Our sense of smell is no where near that of a bear or bloodhound,. So bear mace is extremely overwealming to bears.

I could be very wrong, but I think regular pepper spray is FAR more powerful than this shit. This stuff is only 2% OC, while regular pepper spray is 10%-17%. The reason being is that it has to be humane for the bear or other animal.
