I have trouble thinking of history as LINEAR and only occurring first in North Africa then (and mostly) in Europe. It’s a very limited way of looking at human history, the motion of moving up seems to suggest progress, but history and the lives of men women and all people move sideways and backward as often as “up” —

    Nicely put.

Although we have more advanced technology and machine-men tribal society may have been more fulfilling.

He doesn't seem to have a film by the name of "To be Alive".

But perhaps the 1962 film "Walk on the Wild Side" is the film you are looking for?

Just checked IMDb and that has "To be Alive!" 1984,although Saul Bass was not part of it, but still no luck actually finding any solid information on it or a download address.

Found one slow download for "Walk on the Wild Side" so I might upload that to you tube(if it's good of course) after I'm done, sorry I couldn't be much help.

That's exactly what I thought when I was first watching it!

So come to youtube and I find it's all cut up in tiny exerts.

Needless to say, I sliced up the original and uploaded it straight away.

Furthermore, there are women in this, they play their part, they are in part two of the video.

That isn't true, the history of the world has been regarded as a linked system for a long time, to only cite one, i would cite Joaquin Winkelman, art historian who produced in 1764, History of the renaissance, in which he regards history not as linear chronological path but as an path between thoughts, ideas, and works. Further down the line Franz Theodore Kugler, in 1832 produced a "Manual of Art History" in which he says that the history of the world and it's description are linked as one.

You are so smart. Now can you count the size of the breasts, and please notice if there are "minorities".

I'll expect your conclusions in five days. Thank you.

You are mistaken. ^_^ In the early ages of the tower, the 3rd level [to be precise] a bare-breasted female comments, 'Harry, do you realize you've invented the wheel'; a few stories higher, a woman is carving 'god bless this cave' #13 - seen in profile she has breasts - while below her and to the left are 3 women cooking; the early city dwellers a bit higher up have men and women both [the females are in the skirts] - as they watch the pyramid being built. After THAT they pretty much vanish

You made a very important point. At the same time, this animation came out in 1968. NOBODY had even thought of doing anything like this: not the concept nor the method. it was completely revolutionary. NOBODY, not philosophers nor historians, ever looked at history of the "world".

Anybody note that there are absolutely no women in this animation, except for decorative dancers? That claim could be made also. All hind sight.
