This is a treasure that hopefully will NOT be modernized! It's an antique Otis Traction Elevator, in the Quincy Medical Center, Quincy, Massachusetts.
The only mod done was to make automatic floor selections, with the BEAUTIFUL fixtures. Both the outer doors and the inner gate are hand operated, and must be closed to allow others on different floors to access it.
We do a couple round trips, including a shot of me showing the mechanicals on the doors, as they are being opened and closed. I guessed the aim, and got it right. The pivot action on the outer doors is amazing.
For Jimster586, I do a lap in Twilight. Unfortunately, as I was finding the light switch, I accidently tapped the Alarm Button, so you hear it ring very quickly. (Thumbs-Down for hitting the alarm!!)
As I was about to end the video, people on the top floor called it, so we go along, pick them up, and bring them, and myself, to 1, and call it a video.

  • What does the alarm button exactly do other then making that *ding* noise?

  • @Luciferminusone

    That's it. The bell is to alert people something is wrong, typically getting stuck.

  • The people on the third floor must have decided to call the elevator.

  • @nidokingthefirst

    Yep, they did, as I was getting out, which startled me. :)

    Before I headed back down the first time, I looked to see if they were waiting for the elevator, but nobody cared, so I went back down. They then called it.

    You've heard the saying "Hear no evil, see no evil, speak no evil."

    It's best, if you want to test it, to do it off-camera.

    Horsing around = non-emergency use = penalty

    testing = non-emergency use = penalty

    Wrong button = accident = no penalty

    EMERGENCY USE = obvious.

  • I love this elevator!! 5:16 WOAH were moving LOL!!! And WHY thumbs down an awesome video!! Accidental press/testing do not qualify for downrate as it is not playing with it.

  • Filmed an elevator just like this. 410 s Michagen ave. Its uploaded now. Check it out
