@WheezysGaming If instead of water, you make the floor level (stone, dirt whatever) and have 2 blocks clearance for you to walk to the tall ladder, just put one or two ladders on the torch side for the very last blocks. Don't need to fight with water that way (I really hate working in water if I don't have to)

Haha that's shitty luck. If there's one thing I've learned, it's that anytime you think you've done enough, do a little bit more just incase. If you think you've dug deep enough, dig deeper. Saved my ass on more than one occasion, and not only in minecraft.

@USAFA2017 The concept is simple, I just underestimated the drop distance and didn't make the pool deep enough the first time :(
